Raven Astrid — My Mother Told Me

My mother told me
My mother told me
When the moon was alone
Daughter of the northern sea
And singing
One day you must go follow the raven
Follow the phone.
Where the cold winds
Carry you, they will guide you home
My mother told me, "Do not
Fear the tide.
Even when the and singing] dark waves rise, I
Am by your side.
Sail my daughter.
Sail
Through the storm and snow.
See your
Sorrow to the sea.
Let the old gods know
My mother told me, "Keep your spirit bright.
Hold your heart like burning
Fire." Through the longest night
I hear her whisper
In the ocean's breath
Love is stronger than the storm
Hope is stronger than death.
Sail
My daughter, sail where the wild winds blow.
With my blessing in your blood and the stars below
My mother told me one day i
Would stand with the sea beneath my feet
And fate within my hands.
I am the thunder.
I am the rain.
I will carry
Every loss
Still it blooms again
My daughter, sail past the mist and foam every wave that calls your name.
Lead your spirit home
My mother told me
When the dawn is near, do not bow to grief or fear
I am always here
